Welcome to Chicken Yogi! For my first blog post, I thought I’d talk about my passionate work for chronic wellness. You might be wondering what is chronic wellness? I believe chronic wellness is a state of being when we tap into our spiritual as well as our physical and emotional selves. It’s a balancing of the soul.

I believe chronic illness isn’t a bad word. It’s simply a state of being, and it’s one we can learn to work with and accept, while always striving for chronic wellness in whatever form that takes for us. Our wellness isn’t tied to virtue. We can do everything right and still end up with a diagnosis of chronic illness, and sometimes disability. Likewise, we may want to do everything “right”, but socioeconomic factors keep us from doing what the experts tell us to. That’s not a moral failing; it’s what living in late-stage capitalism is like.

How do I do this?

* Through gentle, mindful movement. Yoga is a my jam. I think if they’d taught yoga in gym class I probably would have liked it better. Nothing makes me feel better or lift my spirits than a few yoga poses or an entire sequence.

* Through mindfulness and meditation. Our mind is the most powerful tool we have. It’s also the most vulnerable. Mindfulness and meditation helps us to connect with our inner self, our soul, to ensure we’re on the right path for us.

* Additional tools include EFT-TFT, reiki, energy work, and more.

I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
